Mary O’Hara, Chair of Trustees

Mary O’Hara is a journalist, author and producer. Her journalism has appeared in publications including The Guardian. She is the author of two books: The Shame Game: Overturning the toxic poverty narrative (2020) & Austerity Bites: A journey to the sharp end of cuts in the UK (2014). Mary has directed/produced short films, run a comedy club and been a producer on the podcast Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness. In 2020 she was named Best Foreign Columnist at the Southern California Journalism Awards.

Shaun is a former theatre practitioner and musician, and a co-founder of Camden People’s Theatre. For the last 20 years he has worked in a variety of senior charity roles, provided strategic consultancy services for arts and other charities and taught and lectured on business skills for the creative industries.

Steve Doherty, Treasurer

Founder and Managing Director of Llandudno-based Giddy Goat Productions, specializing in comedy: broadcast, online and live. His personal TV producer credits include Have I Got News For You (for which he was nominated for a BAFTA), Never Mind the Buzzcocks (for which he wasn’t) and A Child’s Christmases in Wales (which won Best Comedy at the Celtic Media Awards). He’s also made lots of radio shows including Meet David Sedaris, Now You’re Asking with Marian Keyes and Tara Flynn, Prepper, Woof, BrokenDreamCatcher, Ashley Blaker’s 6.5 Children, 52 First Impressions with David Quantick, and The News Quiz  all for BBC Radio 4; He has an occasional dalliance with BBC Radio 3 and the BBC Symphony Orchestra as a producer on their music and author events. Steve was also Artistic Director for Craft of Comedy UK, an entertainment industry event held annually for 5 years at Venue Cymru.
